I *heart* babywearing

Have I ever mentioned how much I love babywearing?

I really, really love babywearing.

When I was pregnant with Peanut, my mother and sister told me how much time I was going to have on my hands. “Babies sleep so much!” My sister even told me that when her oldest daughter was born, she would sit and just wait for her to wake up from naps so they could play.

HA!

When Peanut was born, my sweet, darling little girl wanted to be held all the time. So after bouncing, nursing and rocking for sometimes over an hour, if I laid her in her cradle, she would immediately wake up and we would have to start the process all over again.

I used a wrap that I made when she was very small and we’ve since graduated into slings and mei tai carriers. I’m very sad that I didn’t invest in a sling before she was born, I think we both would have loved it through that rough newborn stage.

My latest carrier is a hotsling. Can I just tell you how much I love that thing? She’s not to fond of the back carry, but loves the hip carry. On days when no one but Momma will do, this is how we roll:

What are some of your favorite baby carriers?

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am also a huge Hotsling fan. That is how my 2nd spent the first two years of her life. I ventured out on my sling purchasing with this kid. I am in LOVE with my Ergo.

  2. Your daughter is adorable! Enjoy your babywearing time :) I am feeling nostalgic for sunnyboy's babywearing days as he walks nearly everywhere and only occasionally goes in a sling now. Until recently we were still using a toddler patapum several times a week which we got when he finally grew out of the ergo. We've had various other slings and carriers but I absolutely loved the ergo the best. We never used a buggy/stroller so our ergo was used a lot!

  3. My favorite is still my Hotsling. I got another kind of pouch when Owen was born, but I don't like it nearly as well. I still use the Hotstling most of all, by far!

  4. My fave right now is my babyhawk - worked well with teeny baby & even now with my mini moose. When i wear a sling like what you've got in the pic, i get a crick in my neck unless i pull the one side down over my shoulder. If i do that, then i can wear slings a lot longer.
The ergo does seem to be the #1 baby carrier among anyone i've ever talked to. & then there's my sister who loves her Amautiq... :)

  5. I can't survive without my slings! Time on your hands with a newborn? Can't say I've ever had that luxury! My favorite carrier is my ModMum reversible pouch sling. Roomy, but secure!

  6. You know my Hotsling is still my favorite. I would love to try a ring sling (for nursing) and a Mai Tai with my next little one. I will say I tend to wear the baby in the hip carry with her more in the middle of my waist/facing me than the way you have it in the picture; it seems to help balance her weight more, which is a good thing since I'm not a big girl.
