The Diaper Sprayer - Review and Giveaway

GIVEAWAY CLOSED. The winner is lucky #162, Denise!

If you've been reading my blog for even a week, you've probably figured out that I'm a pretty big cloth diaper advocate. They're better for baby, better for the earth and super cute.

But even I must admit that there is one big downside.

You can't wash a diaper full of poo. Which means something has to be done with it before you can wash it. In the "olden" days, this involved dunking the soiled diaper in the toilet to remove the poo (Try doing that without getting something suspect on your hands). Up until a day ago, this was the method I used too. Well, my poo removing method just catapulted into the 21st century.

Let me introduce you to my new best friend. The Diaper Sprayer.

The diaper sprayer is a nifty contraption that looks like the spray nozzle from your kitchen sink. It attaches to the plumbing behind your toilet and hangs out there just waiting for a stinky diaper that needs to be attended too. It has an adjustable nozzle so you can control the pressure of the spray and just high pressure wash that poo right where it belongs - the toilet.

I could have asked my hubby to install the sprayer for me, but I wanted to test out the ease of installation for you all. I did have to ask him to find me a wrench, but other than that, I installed the sprayer from start to finish in just under 10 minutes. All by myself. Easy, peasy! And it works great. Peanut afforded me the opportunity to test it less than an hour after I installed it and - seriously - I have NO idea why I never invested in one of these before!

These should be a staple in every cloth diapering home. There are officially no more downsides to cloth diapering.

Here are a few of things that set The Diaper Sprayer apart from it's competition.

Quality. Plumbing is one of those things that needs to be done right. If you install a sprayer with plastic fittings, chances are you'll be dealing with leaks. The Diaper Sprayer is manufactured with metal fittings that are even covered by a one year warranty.

Price. You get what you pay for. And for $34.99 and free shipping in the US, you get an awesome, well made product that will last.

Customer Service. I sent an inquiry to The Diaper Sprayer and literally heard back from them within 10 minutes. If that's not amazing customer service, I don't know what is.

So....want to win one? Thought so!

The awesome folks at The Diaper Sprayer have donated a classic white diapers sprayer for me to give away to one of my readers.

To enter: Visit The Diaper Sprayer website and take a look around. You really should check out the adorable dog shaped nozzle heads they have available! Post a comment and share your current poo removal system and why you want to try the diaper sprayer. This comment is mandatory and must be posted before any additional entries will be counted.

For additional entries:

  1. Currently I shake it. Oh yeah. Shake that nasty into the toilet then scrub in the sink. Poo on the hands.

  2. The Bulldog sprayer cracks me up, cute. We're big fans of the Bully breeds in our house.
Currently we're doing the 'drop it in the toilet' method in our house, from there the dirty diaper goes into the wetbag. However there are certainly times when having a toddler those poo's become quite stubborn to remove. I would love a diaper sprayer just for these, which can be quite frequent! Ha.

  3. I currently swish in the toilet. I've resisted getting a sprayer for fear of the kids hosing down the bathroom with it, but they really do look so handy!

I think I NEED one of these for our next baby!

  4. I shake it in the toilet and then take a cup and pour hot water on it to get the stubborn chunks off. I have a 1 yr old that is teething and that poo is bad! I usually end up with poop on my hands!

  7. I don't have a pre-wash routine yet. I just got my 6 cloth diapers and haven't really used them yet. A diaper sprayer would help me get over my fear of poopy diapers!

  8. I don't have solid poop yet but when I do I would love this! Would make cloth diapering much easier and I wouldn't have to worry about using... my hands or a towell or something!

  9. I dunk and swish. And since my kiddo is 16 months old, it's not pretty. This isn't breastmilk poo anymore, people!

  16. Ooops. My first comment didn't post as I didn't see the confirmation step.

I'd get the chrome sprayer. I used to have a BumGenius sprayer but it started leaking and ruining my new tile.....so I just plop and scrape extra solids off with a wipe. I'd love to give another sprayer a try.

I would love to win this to keep my hands free of fecal matter and then maybe convince my hubby that he too can change the dirties :)

  21. I don't cloth diaper yet I have until September to get everything ready. My son is due Sept 26 and I would love to try this product out. This sounds like a great idea. I wondered how you get the poo out of the diapers without making a mess.

  23. I currently use a spatula to scrape off the poo. I'll sometimes dunk if I can't get it all out. I would love one because my son is still not that into solids, so we still have a mix of BF poop and solid poop. plus, I could get my husband to clean some diapers instead of leaving them for me!

  30. No laughing here --- but I use the sprayer in our kitchen sink and then bleach the sink out (sad but true...wouldn't know what to do without my system...) so see I need this sprayer

  31. Although I would probably go with the chrome diaper sprayer, the dog ones are a hoot! We have cats, though, and I fear my daughter chasing them with the puppy sprayer when she gets bigger.

So far, I haven't had to worry about poop removal with the EBF baby, but we had our first experiments with solid foods last night, so I'm sure I'll be dunking the diaper in the toilet today and ordering a diaper sprayer before too long...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh wow - I would LOVE to win this!! I currently get rid of our poo in this house the "olden times" way - dunk and swoosh - ughh! Even though I have 2 in diapers, my baby hadn't started solids until this past week, so I figured I could deal w/ the dunking w/ just 1 poo a day. Well - let me tell you - for some reason she recently started poo'ing more than once a day, and now my baby I need to dunk as her poop starts to change from ebf to solids too - so, needless to say - I'm dunking way too many diapers for my liking right now - haha!!!

Please enter me : ) Thanks for this great giveaway!

  33. We currently just dunk in the toilet, or I should say, I currently dunk in the toilet. I really want a diaper sprayer because my husband refuses to do this step and then the poopy diaper just gets thrown in the pail or I have to go back and dunk it. He says that he would use a sprayer.

  35. I haven't begun cloth diapering yet, but as potty training is no where in sight and I definietly plan to cloth diaper from the beginning with our next baby (not pregnant, but plan to in the next year), I'm starting to build a stash now and hopefully switch soon. My husband is very apprehensive about the switch from disposables to cloth and I think this might help both of us over come that fear!

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  42. i currently use a diaper sprayer in the little bathroom closest to my bedroom, since i share it with snapdragon. that said, i would LOVE to have a second diaper sprayer for the bathroom where we actually bathe, which is nearest the laundry room (which is in yet another bathroom, and before you go gettingjealous of my three bathrooms, please note that they are all former closets, so pretty tiny, and one of them actually houses the laundry room!) the reason i'd like it for in there is because it would be wonderful to be able to spray out his fluffies when we get ready for a shower, as he invariably manages to be pooptastic in the few minutes between going into the bathroom to get ready for the shower, and actually starting the shower, which then means trapsing through the house with a grosstastic fluffy to spray it, from where it will have to again be carried through that bathroom (because you get to the one with the laundry by walking through the one with the shower, corridor style) and it's an awful lot of silly when if i could spray them out in there and toss them in a dry pail, it'd all be so much less complicated!
and yes, i've tried the showerhead, and it doesn't have enough pressure to get the poo off.
and my mom would LOVE the bulldog one! lol.

  43. I am a shaker and a scraper...shake the poo in the pot and then scrape with an old credit card of some sort ( a tip from my friend!) Then if needed wash it up a bit further in the sink, usually with poo on my hands...with 5 kids, 2 in diapers, there has got to be an easier way:) I'd love to try a dipaer sprayer...angelita132@hotmail.com

I currently am dunking the diaper in the toilet and holding the clean-ish end and flushing and swishing it around until most of the poopy comes off. My daughter is 18 months and still has PB poo...no fun! I am starting school back this semester and my husband is going to put my baby girl in disposables because he doesn't want to dunk cloth dipes =( I have gotta come up with a way to keep my baby in her cloth diapers! Hopefully a sprayer would do the trick!

  108. I've just been prewashing the breastfeeding poo with great success, but now that we're delving into solids ..... we have more .... ummm solids!

I've been dunking a bit, and was worried about trying a sprayer due to some of the reviews I've read about them leaking. We're currently doing a major bathroom remodel due to water damage from a shower so I was leary. Just got one diaper sprayer for the Gremlin's bath, and would love a second for the soon to be completed (hopefully) main bath!

  128. I currently plop the poop in the toilet and dunk and swish but only if it's really bad. I'd love a sprayer for those times because dunking and swishing is no fun!

  138. I would love to win this! We don't really do anything with the dipes, since she is still mostly breastfed. If there is enough, we'll dump it. I know the day will come where we will wish we had one of these

  141. I currently just shake into the toilet, swishing if need be. I've been using cloth diapers for 4 years now, and am on my 3rd fluffy bum kid so I've gotten pretty good at it without making too much mess. Still would LOVE one of these, though!
