Return of seperate MMR vaccines

As a parent that has chosen to vaccinate my child on a delayed and selective schedule, I'm thrilled that Merck is going to begin production of separate MMR vaccines again.

For those of us that have chosen to limit and manage the vaccines that our children are given, this offers us even more control over what is introduced into their little bodies. For those that fully vaccinate and are understandably concerned by parents who don't, this is great news for you too! With the option to space out and offer each component of this vaccine separately, more parents (including this one!) will be vaccinating their children for these diseases.

Vaccinations are obviously a hugely controversial subject. There are so many differing opinions that it's difficult to separate fact from fiction. No matter what your stance on immunizations, this is good news for everyone. I'm so pleased that Merck is willing to give parents more choices.

  2. That is really great news! My daughter had the MMR shot when she was a year, and as a result she got the chicken pox from it, though they called them the 'mini' pox. For a week she was sick and wouldn't eat and spots everywhere. 2nd worst week of my life

  6. I am relieved to hear this. Now, if only enough people will put pressure on Merk to stop using aborted fetal tissue in some of their vaccines. I would have very little problem with fully vaccinating my child if five of the ones on the AAP schedule did not use aborted fetal tissue:-(
